BARBER PROGRAM


1250 Hours
10 Months+
PA BARBER LICENSE

Program Details:  Our Barber Program prepares students for their PA State Board of Barber Licensing Exam while focusing on professionalism, creativity, and business acumen. Students learn through a combination of theoretical and practical training. Theoretical training takes place in a classroom setting and practical training is conducted on our clinic floor, which offers client services to the general public. Students have to accumulate 1250 hours for graduation, which takes no less than 10 months.

Program Goals:  Upon graduation of the Barber Program, graduates should possess the skill set needed to pass the PA State Board of Barber Licensing Exam, obtain entry-level employment in the field of barbering, and perform all client services, including haircuts, shaves, facials, and more. Graduate Barbers should develop a professional attitude, desirable work habits, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Graduates should be well-rounded in all aspects of barbering.

Teaching Methods:  With over 20 years of experience in the barber industry, our instructors are highly skilled, knowledgeable, and use the latest teaching methods, allowing our students to learn, practice, and develop their skills in a manner that works best for them. We take a unique approach to our teaching process, blending traditional barber shop techniques with modern barbering style and flair, to provide our students with a one of a kind, top-notch barber education. The Barber Program at the Cutting Edge Barber Academy is hands-on, interactive, and teaches students by utilizing an array of techniques, supplemental resources, and modern technology. Students can expect to learn through basic classroom instruction like lectures and quizzes, responsive games and group activities, audio visual aids, demonstrations, live models, and more.

TEACHER’S PROGRAM


1250 HOURS
10 Months+
PA BARBER INSTRUCTOR LICENSE

Program Details:  Participants in the Teacher’s Program at the Cutting Edge Barber Academy must currently have a valid PA Barber Manager’s License. Our Teacher’s Program prepares students to take and pass the PA State Board of Barber Instructor Licensing Exam. This program is designed to educate licensed barber managers on how to instruct others on the theory and art of barbering. Participants learn through a combination of theoretical and practical training. Theoretical training takes place in a classroom setting and practical training is conducted on our clinic floor, which offers client services to the general public. Students have to accumulate 1250 hours for graduation, which takes no less than 10 months.

Program Goals:  The primary purpose of the Teacher’s Program is to offer teaching methodologies, learning philosophies, and professional development for aspiring barber educators. Upon graduation of the Teacher’s Program, participants should possess the required knowledge and skills to pass the PA State Board of Barber Instructor Licensing Exam, gain employment in the field of barber teaching, and be able to teach all client services, including haircuts, shaves, facials, and more, to barbering students. Participants will also develop their presentation, demonstration, and interpersonal skills. Once fully licensed, participants are qualified for a variety of jobs, including barber teacher, product educator, shop manager, and more.

CROSSOVER PROGRAM


695 HOURS
6 Months+
PA Barber License

Program Details:  The Crossover Program is for individual’s who have already obtained their PA Cosmetology License and would like to further their education by gaining a PA Barber License. Crossover students will learn in the exact same manner as students enrolled in the Barber Program. Crossover students will be prepared to take and pass the PA State Board of Barber Licensing Exam. Students learn through a combination of theoretical and practical training. Theoretical training takes place in a classroom setting and practical training is conducted on our clinic floor, which offers client services to the general public. Students have to accumulate 695 hours for graduation, which takes no less than 6 months.

Program Goals:  Upon graduation of the Crossover Program, graduates should possess the skill set needed to pass the PA State Board of Barber Licensing Exam, gain entry-level employment in the field of barbering, and perform all client services, including haircuts, shaves, facials, and more. Graduate Barbers should develop a professional attitude, desirable work habits, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Graduates should be well-rounded in all aspects of barbering.

Please understand that we want to provide students with the highest quality barber education possible, and one way to ensure that we do so is by having expectations for our students and holding them accountable to meet those expectations. This is just a brief breakdown of some of the core things we are looking for. Students will receive other policies they must abide by in their school catalog once they enroll.
